From the Willamette River Basin Atlas.
Five versions of the river basin from Eugene to roughly Harrisburg. Visualized using Maya. Object generation using density masks to 'grow' objects on the terrain. LU/LC maps were adjusted in Photoshop to resemble the natural landscape.
Object generation in Maya using a script I wrote called 'MayaGIS'. Objects or groups assigned to specific RGB values on the ground surface (from a 60+ category land use / land cover map). Control of scale, rotation, density.
Object generation in Maya. Bump and reflection maps applied.
A second plane over the landscape with transparency map makes the arrows, so the landscape can be rotated for optimal viewing.
3D landscape with land use map and a bump map generated in Photoshop with scaled heights for different objects or vegetation.
A playful forest scene made in Maya with sign added in Photoshop.
